SEF and Seven Other Organizations Send Letter Opposing Private School Vouchers to Arkansas Legislature

September 3, 2020

The Southern Education Foundation signed on to a letter to leaders in the Arkansas legislature urging them to dismantle the Succeed Scholarship voucher program on the grounds that it diverts crucial public dollars from Arkansas public schools which educate over 93 percent of students in the state. The program was intended to provide vouchers to students with disabilities and children in the foster care system, the majority of whom are in public schools. SEF and the other organizations on the letter have asked that the funds be redirected to the public school system to improve educational opportunity for students with disabilities, foster care students, and students from low-income families.
