Update December 13, 2019 – Earlier in the fall, SEF President, Raymond C. Pierce, presented to the Georgia Senate Study Committee on the Educational Development of African American Children in the State of Georgia. SEF’s testimony focused on the history of education in the South along with updated achievement and funding gap disparities between Black and white students. The Senate panel’s final report adopts SEF’s funding recommendation encouraging the state legislature to fully fund QBE and update the funding formula to match the costs needed to educate low-income students today.
