SEF's New Location

Thank you to all our guests that joined us on April 18th for our inagural Open House event in our new space. We enjoyed sharing our history with you and its connection to the important work we are doing now in the fight for education equity. We encourage all our guests, partners, and friends to subscribe to our newsletter for updates about future events and research.

Our new space was designed to illustrate both the journey of education in the South and specifically SEF’s contribution. Through the use of murals, quotes, illustrations and paintings we intend for the experience when you visit SEF to be one centered in teaching & learning.

“A SOUTHERN EDUCATION” - COMMEMORATIVE ARTWORK | LOUIS DELSARTE

This commemorative mural showcases the 150-year long education journey of African Americans illustrating their frustration, resilience, joy, and hope throughout the past, present, and future. This piece marks SEF’s milestone celebration for its 150th Anniversary. The artist, Louis Delsarte, who has called Atlanta home for 25 years, uses his talent to project his ideals of peace, love and community, and continues his journey toward creative excellence for the benefit of others with this moving work of art.
