Erica S. Taylor, a Charleston, S.C. native, is the Chief of Strategy and Communications at Charleston County School District. Taylor holds a Master of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism from Florida A&M University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional English from South Carolina State University. She also has a certificate in fundraising from the Center of Philanthropy at Indiana University.

She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, a Paul Harris Fellow in the Historic Rotary Club of Charleston, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., The Charleston (SC) Chapter of the Links Incorporated and First Baptist Church on James Island, S.C. Also, she serves on the Trident Urban League Board of Directors, Charleston Leadership Foundation Board, and the Moja Arts Festival Community Advisory Committee.

She is a graduate of Leadership Orangeburg (2006), Leadership South Carolina (2009), (the state’s premier leadership program), The Riley Institute at Furman’s South Carolina Diversity Leaders Initiative (2013) and has been nominated to participate in the South Carolina Liberty Fellowship Program. Taylor was recognized by the National School Public Relations Association as ’35 under 35’ public school communications professional in 2014. In 2016, she was chosen as a 20 to Know by the City of North Charleston, SC, and a ‘Person to Watch’ by The Moultrie News.

Most recently, she was recognized by Charleston Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., as the 2018 Outstanding Educator of the Year, is a 2018 40 under 40 honoree by the Charleston Regional Business Journal, and is currently a 2018 South Carolina Education Policy Fellow. She is married to Captain Nathaniel T. Taylor Jr. and is the daughter of Ms. Janetha Wright-Prioleau and the late Arnold Eric Prioleau. Proud of all of her accomplishments, but above all else, she is most proud of being the mother of Master Nathaniel Arnold Taylor III (8), Master Jaxon Evan Taylor (7), and Little Miss Lacee Christina Taylor (20 months).
