Throughout her career, April has been driven by the belief that educational empowerment enhances the lives of all people. As Chief Legal Officer for Rowan Salisbury Schools, April is dedicated to providing legal counsel and support to her school district’s leadership.  She works to support the Superintendent’s vision and mission by minimizing legal risks and creatively working within legal guidelines to move the district forward. Previously, in her law practice, she advocated for clients while seeking out opportunities to educate and empower them during the representative process.  April worked in the areas of education law, business, and estate planning due to her beliefs in community and strong families.

Prior to that, April worked as a Labor & Education Consultant for the North Carolina Association of Educators (NCAE). She represented and defended the rights of K-12 Public Education Employees in a variety of Employment Law matters including contracts, personnel policy violations, suspensions, and dismissals. Additionally, she advocated for Public Education policy matters like school funding and educational equality at state and local levels. Empowerment through educational opportunity is the key to changing the trajectory of individuals, families, and communities. Through the educational and legal fields, April has had the honor of helping others discover unique possibilities. April Kuhn is a Salisbury, NC native and a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill graduate. She received her J.D. from Stetson University College of Law in St. Petersburg, Florida where she served as a Research Assistant and as an intern with the Pinellas County State Attorney’s Office. April currently resides in Mooresville, NC with her husband and daughter.
