Mr. Keith Simmons

Mr. Keith Simmons is an experienced leader who possess more than 20 years of experience in various roles within K-12 education. Currently, Keith serves as the Chief of Staff of the Bibb County School District in Macon, GA. As the Chief of Staff, Mr. Simmons serves as a key strategic advisor and problem-solver for the Superintendent, coordinates the work of the district’s Senior Cabinet, leads key initiatives, and represents the Superintendent when needed at public events. Mr. Simmons leads the district’s Operations Division, which is comprised of the Transportation, Maintenance & Facilities, Safety & Security, Nutrition & Food Services, Capital Programs, Technology Services, and Campus Police departments, respectively.

Prior to his role in Bibb County, Mr. Simmons served as principal of Griffin High School in the Griffin-Spalding County School System. During his tenure, he led Griffin High School through a $22 million-dollar school renovation, while successfully implementing a $5 million-dollar School Improvement Grant (SIG). Driven by a commitment to increase students’ access and exposure to academic rigor and CTAE programs, Griffin High School saw dramatic increases in student attendance, student achievement, graduation rates and community partnerships. In 2012, Griffin High was named a Model School by the International Center for Leadership in Education (ICLE).

Mr. Simmons’s leadership preparation includes a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership, and an Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction. He recently completed the Superintendent Professional Development Program through Georgia State University and is currently working on a doctoral degree in education policy.
