Rapidly moving school reform efforts have inspired the Southern Education Foundation to intensify our focus on policy that affects public education and the powerful role it can play in advancing or limiting equitable opportunities in our schools. The debates around issues of school reform, school governance, and school funding rarely find consensus and are often mired in politics.
That’s why SEF convened researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students in Little Rock, AR for our 2018 Issues Forum. We were intentional about creating a space for healthy discourse between education advocates of various perspectives. We see these debates as necessary and integral to achieving the ultimate goal of an equitable education system that works for all of our children.
