Dr. Eddie Ruiz

Dr. Eddie Ruiz is currently the Assistant Superintendent of the Division of Student Services, Equity, and Access for the School District of Palm Beach County. In this capacity, Dr. Ruiz leads five large departments which include Safe Schools, Educational Alternatives, Extended Learning, Choice and Career Options and School Counseling. In addition, Dr. Ruiz is the direct Principal supervisor for the Alternative Education schools, where he provides coaching and feedback to the school leadership team to increase student achievement for all students. Lastly, Dr. Ruiz leads the efforts of creating equity and access for K-12 through the implementation of the initiatives in the Palm Beach County School District Strategic Plan.

Dr. Ruiz holds a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Phoenix and received his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Florida. Dr. Ruiz is married with one school-age child who attends public school.

Prior to coming to work in Palm Beach County, Dr. Ruiz served as Principal of North Springs Charter High School in Fulton County, Georgia. In his role as the instructional leader of the comprehensive high school, Dr. Ruiz was credited with increasing graduation rates overall by 18.1%, including significant increases in subgroups such as African-Americans, Hispanics, Students with Disabilities, and Economically Disadvantaged Students.

As an educational leader, Dr. Ruiz has worked passionately to ensure that all students receive a quality education that will equip them with the skills needed for post-secondary education and employment in today’s ever-changing world. Influenced to become an educator as a result of being impacted by an assistant principal, guidance counselor, and a teacher who all saw the talents in him, he was inspired to always challenge others to do their best.
